Something real this time
You signed up a while back. I don’t blame you for forgetting — I went quiet, and honestly what I was putting out before wasn’t worth remembering anyway.
I was writing what I thought a newsletter was supposed to look like. Generic titles. Safe topics. Advice that sounded right but didn’t come from anywhere real. I knew it wasn’t working and kept going anyway, which is its own kind of problem — one I’ll probably write about soon.
Then I stopped. Not because I gave up, but because I couldn’t keep putting my name on something that didn’t feel true.
So I rebuilt it.
This is Subtext now. Same account, completely different direction. The name means exactly what I intend to do here — get beneath the surface of things. Not the advice you’ve already heard. Not the version of life that looks clean from the outside. The actual mechanics underneath. Why people stay stuck when they don’t want to be. Why the things we know we should do somehow never happen. What’s actually going on beneath behavior, decisions, and the quiet patterns most people never examine.
I’ve spent years breaking this stuff down for myself. Some of it came easy. A lot of it came from sitting with things that were uncomfortable long enough to finally understand them. I’m not writing from a place of having it all figured out — I’m writing from a place of having looked at it honestly.
That’s what this is. Honest breakdowns of the things that actually matter, written for people who want more than surface level answers.
If that’s not what you’re here for, no hard feelings. Unsubscribe and we’ll part ways cleanly.
But if you want to stick around — the first real piece drops soon.
It starts with something strange: the fact that your brain erases your nose from your vision every single day. And it goes somewhere that might change how you look at every problem you’ve been carrying.
Stay tuned.
